Mike Hartwell
Junior Performance
Responsible for developing and directing the teaching and skills development programme at the
club. Mike has been involved with LSASC for 39 years, swimming competitively for the club. At
the age of 13 Mike joined City of Coventry where he progressed through the ranks to the National
Squad as a 1500metre swimmer under the guidance of the former GB coach Hamilton Bland. Mike remained
a member of LSASC during this time and played water polo for Leamington.
Mike became involved with teaching and then onto coaching to pass on his knowledge, skills and
experience to help develop the next generation of swimmers.

Internationally qualified Strength & Conditioning coach, course director, lecturer, UKSCA
tutor & assessor, and PhD researcher. Over 20 years working as an S&C coach across more
than 30 sports with athletes ranging from junior novice through to Olympians and professional
sports people. UKSCA, NSCA, ISAK, NASM and BWLA accredited. UKSCA tutor and
assessor.

Janet Welsh - Contact
Janet is a licensed level 2 teacher and a qualified ASA judge, she also represents the club at
the Coventry and District Association meetings and is the Warwickshire ASA Education Secretary.
Janet oversees the teaching section and looks after the Junior Swim Club and Achievers 2 and 3.

Swam with Leamington for 10 years competing all the way to British Championships.
Winning silver in the 400 IM at Nationals and represented England as part of the D.I.S.E. program
winning Gold in the
200 fly in Sweden.
